GW2 Community Creators Spotlight - AuroraPeachy

Q: What do you do in the Guild Wars community and where can everyone find you?
A: Hi! I’m AuroraPeachy. I make reaction and review videos of Guild Wars 2, focusing on lore and the PvE experience. You can find those on YouTube at http://youtube.com/aurorapeachy, I also host GW2 related streams 3 times a week over at http://twitch.tv/aurora_peachy.

Q: Did you hear of/play GW1 and what was your experiences/ you're impressions? What is your earliest memory if so?
A: I started playing GW1 around the time Nightfall was released, though I had actually played the Factions beta weekend before I even knew what the game was. I fell in love with it once I got my own copy, and the rest is history.

Q: Did you/are you playing other MMO's? What attracted you to them?
A: GW1 was my first MMO, and the GW universe has always been my favorite. I’ve dabbled in others such as Wildstar and the little known Dream of Mirror Online and Grand Fantasia by Aeria Games, but nothing beats Guild Wars. I play MMOs very casually, mostly by myself, which I knows goes against everything they try to accomplish, but it works for me.

Q: When did you start playing GW2 and what got you involved in the game itself?
A: I started playing during one of the beta weekends, and haven’t stopped since. I love Guild Wars 1 so much, GW2 was a given.

Q: What have you enjoyed about GW2 and what has kept you playing?
A: Absolutely everything about the game keeps me playing, from the mechanics and lore in the game, to the friends I’ve made and the creative outlet it gives me.

Q: What has been your favourite memory of GW2?
A: I can’t get over my very first week in the game when I randomly came across the Shadow Behemoth in Queensdale. Since the game was so new, this open world boss most take for granted nowadays just knocked the socks off of everyone there. I have screenshots of everyone losing their minds in map chat, shouting “today is a good day to die!” and “tonight we dine in HELL!” Everyone was so genuinely excited.

Q: What class do you main/ What is your least liked class and why?
A: I main Guardian and have since launch, though Ranger is a close second purely for its fun factor (longbow ftw!). I actually have 3 rangers and only 1 guardian. My least favorite class is probably warrior. They’re just boring to me. I couldn’t play one in GW1 either.

Q: What is your preferred game mode/Have you been drawn to any other modes?
A: I dabble in all three game modes, though over 90% of my playtime is in PvE. I live for the game’s story! I’ve found myself drawn to PvP lately, which still shocks me. I never in a million years thought I would enjoy PvP. But there’s something about Guild Wars that makes every game mode fun for everyone! I’ve even gotten others into it who thought they would never play!

Q: What is your opinion on the lore of the game?
A: It’s what I live for! I’m no WoodenPotatoes, but I try my best to keep up with it and theorize on what’s to come. The theories the community comes up with is one of my favorite parts about it! And ArenaNet loves to keep so much of it a secret that it’s very easy to do so.

Q: How do you feel about the upcoming expansion HoT?
A: Looking very forward to it! With all the talk of features I keep forgetting we’re going to be getting an amazing story that takes us into the jungle and uncovers all kinds of secrets. I can’t wait!
Is there a place, theme or person you would want new content to include?
Nostalgia is huge for me, so I hope we get to see a lot of references to GW1 lore!

Q: What do you speculate as the next possible race?
A: If I had to pick one I hope we get Tengu (Canthan expansion please! *hides from Colin*)

Q: How did you get started with the community, what inspired you to get involved?
A: Watching YouTubers like WoodenPotatoes, BogOtter and MattVisual really inspired me to start making my own videos and sharing my GW2 experiences.

Q: Why do you think GW2 has such a great community around it?
A: The way the game is designed (shared mining nodes, no competing for loot drops, world bosses, etc) creates a friendly atmosphere. You’re always happy to see another player!

Q: Why did you choose YouTube/Twitch?
A: I’ve always enjoyed videography, editing and media creation, so YouTube is a blessing for me. I never thought I would enjoy streaming live on Twitch as much as I do. It’s an amazing experience, and I’m so grateful for the community it’s created!

Q: How much does the audience and community influence your production/creations?
A: They definitely make me try to be on time with my videos! Knowing there’s people out there actually looking forward to the content I create is an incredible feeling, and I do my best to release it in a timely manner (which doesn’t always work out because I’m inherently lazy, lol).

Q: Do you have any advice for people wanting to follow in your footsteps?
A: Above all else, you must create content because YOU enjoy and have fun creating it. Don’t make it for views. Don’t make it for e-fame. Don’t make it because someone else wants you to. Make it for YOU. Be yourself, and don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t.

Do you play anything else which you make content for?
A: I play a variety of games casually, but my other major focus is the anime Sailor Moon. It’s been a huge part of my life for over 18 years. It’s where the majority of my subscriber numbers come from, and they can get quite unhappy when I release too many Guild Wars 2 videos in a row, haha. BUT I’ve turned a lot of Moonies on to Guild Wars 2 and they love it! (I even have a character in game that looks like Sailor Moon!)

Q: What type of games do you play for your own enjoyment?
A: Other genres I enjoy are MMO, puzzle, RTS, simulation, and RPGs.

Q: Apart from the immediate cast group, who else would you recommend?
A: There are dozens of absolutely fantastic GW2 YouTubers out there, but my favorites are WoodenPotatoes (http://youtube.com/woodenpotatoes) and my good friend Richie “BogOtter” Procopio (http://youtube.com/bogotter). They’re the ones who really inspired me to start making my own GW2 videos.

Q: Who is your favourite youtuber/streamer [non gw2]?
A: I love watching Boogie2988 on YouTube (http://youtube.com/boogie2988). He’s as informative and hilarious as he is a genuinely good person and it shows. I strive to entertain and spread love and happiness just like he does.

Q: If you could ask Inks/Alex/Corvus/Akasaurus Rex/Modremoth a question what would it be?
A: I would ask Corvus if he has any legendary weapons Kappa
