GW2 Community Creators Spotlight - Modremoth

Q: What do you do in the Guild Wars community and where can everyone find you?
A: Hello there, I am Modremoth! I'm a moderator in AuroraPeachy’s stream. I have a Youtube and twitter account! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRkgErL29fLmGTEN2CMpa5w and my twitter would be @Modremoth

Q: Did you hear of/play GW1 and what was your experiences/ you're impressions? What is your earliest memory if so?
A: I started playing GW1 when I was introduced to it by my father. My earliest memory is actually driving to the store, which was half a hour away. That drive was just to get GW1: Factions.

Q: Did you/are you playing other MMO's? What attracted you to them?
A: I currently have a two-month subscription to World of Warcraft. I want to try it out again. I think generally Im attracted to MMO’s because its not a game you just boot up and play single player, but you can actually make friends in MMO’s!

Q: What have you enjoyed about GW2 and what has kept you playing?
A: I really enjoy the story in Guild Wars 2 and the direction that the game is going. I think the main reason I still play is because of my guildies and the community around the game.

Q: What has been your favourite memory of GW2?
A: When Corvus gave me a spark on a particularly bad day, that was really touching. Many thanks were given that day.

Q: What class do you main/ What is your least liked class and why?
A: I currently main Engineer, I think it's one of the most diverse classes in the game and have many different ways to make them viable. I've also been playing engineer since beta, and its very hard for me to play another class simply because I don't enjoy them. My least favourite class is probably Ranger, simply because its ranger.

Q: How do you feel about the upcoming expansion HoT?
A: I think it will be a great expansion.. but not without bugs at launch. I also hate the community backlash on the pricing. The content looks fun to play and the new additions like the elite specialization and the guild halls look really cool!

Q: How did you get started with the community, what inspired you to get involved?
A: I just went to AuroraPeachy's stream one day.. and she was like ‘’Yea you would be a good mod.’’ then after the stream, I wrote her a message and got modded. I really wanted to be a part of the community around GW2, since it's one of the best community I've ever seen.

Q: Why do you think GW2 has such a great community around it?
A: Cause the game is based around working together! Dynamic events and gathering nodes for everyone makes it so that you don't see the other players as rivals, but as allies. There also isn't much room for Elitists to blink out in. (Everyone can finish a dungeon, content isn't too hard.)

Q: Why did you choose YouTube/Twitch?
A: I just debuted on Youtube, which is more of a test to see if the community likes my kind of content. I'm not sure yet if I want to put my personality out there yet.

Q: How much does the audience and community influence your production/creations?
A: Right at this moment, I'm keeping a very close eye on the Youtube comments and the comments on Reddit so I can see what part people like about my content.

Q: Do you have any advice for people wanting to follow in your footsteps?
A: If you want to become a mod, be friendly and help the chat. If you want to become a content creator, Just DO IT! *shia intensifies*

Q: Do you play anything else which you make content for?
A: Ive considered playing Civilisation V, or Europa universalis V.

Q: What type of games do you play for your own enjoyment?
A: Strategy games, MMO’s.

Q: Apart from the immediate cast group, who else would you recommend?
A: If you are looking for a fun DnD show, I would recommend www.youtube.com/BruceWillakers. He is a really funny guy.

Q: Who is your favourite Youtuber/streamer [non gw2]?
A: If you are looking for a fun DnD show, I would recommend www.youtube.com/BruceWillakers. He is a really funny guy.

Q: If you could ask Peachy/Inks/Alex/Corvus/Akasaurus Rex a question what would it be?
A: I would ask Corvus which Legendary he has, cause I forgot. Also I would like to ask Alex if we can get some legs up in this Guildgab.

GW2 Community Creators Spotlight - Akasaurus Rex

Q: What do you do in the Guild Wars community and where can everyone find you?
A: I'm currently part of the GuildGab show on Twitch at twitch.tv/aurora_peachy

Q: Did you hear of/play GW1 and what was your experiences/ your impressions? What is your earliest memory if so?
A: I tried it once but I just couldn't get into it. The Human-centric aspect of it was too much of a barrier. It was alright but just wasn't for me *hides from the GW1 fans*

Q: Did you/are you playing other MMO's? What attracted you to them?
A: WOW is my other MMORPG and my first. I also have a lil flame for Wildstar. As I like to Corvus I have loved Warcraft Lore for almost as long as he has been alive so its a deep part of me lol ;p I frankly just love the genre overall, the customizing and idea that the game world just keeps going and changing story wise never really ending.

Q: When did you start playing GW2 and what got you involved in the game itself?
A: I started playing GW2 about four or more months after its launch. I fell in lurve with the Charr, for many reasons and they are still one of the most distinct Races in all of MMORPG land. The "cat races" of other MMOs are pale jokes in comparison. That kind of attention to detail got me seriously hooked as well as doing away with the whole Raid thing which I never liked.

Q:What have you enjoyed about GW2 and what has kept you playing?
A: This is very similar to the last question but no sub fee and having the whole game open unlike a lot of other "free 2 play" games has always been a strong point for GW2. And I love how well the devs have grown to communicate with the community.

Q:What has been your favourite memory of GW2?
A: This has to be the conclusion to the destruction of LA and the Tower of Nightmare, it was quite an experience in all my years of video games to see all that play out.

Q: What class do you main/ What is your least liked class and why?
A:  I find it so hard to narrow down on a class and with the elites coming out I gotta wait for them to come out. But for now It would be Elementalist and Warrior and Ranger. My least fav is the Engi, I just can't get into it. Ironic since I love all things Charr I know lol

Q: What is your preferred game mode/Have you been drawn to any other modes?
A: Only PVE.

Q:What is your opinion on the lore of the game?
A: LOVE IT. I can go on quite a lot with the Charr but overall something I really appreciate is the courage to delve into the religions of the races. If you are making a race that thinks like we do and all fictional races have to given we are all Humans, to ignore what a race believes spiritually is a big oversight. Good or bad belief systems are a major aspect of any race and Arenanet has done a great job in from how the Humans and their strange gods to the Charr and their atheistic-like "Humanist" or "Charrist" beliefs and the Norn and their Nature Spirits to the Hylek. The conflict the Hylek will have with each other is one of things I am looking forward to most.

Q: How do you feel about the upcoming expansion HoT?
A: I am pretty dang excited. I love how compared to the mega huge BlizzCons it felt so low key but intimate and loved how they celebrated the no grind/gear treadmill ideal. I was VERY impressed by their unique approach to end game character progression and the idea of the Elite specializations. And am freaking out about our character talking again. Voice acting because of my vision limitations has always been one of my fav parts of any video game. HoT will truly be a new kind of expansion and all of us just do not know what to expect and that is pretty dang awesome!

Q: Is there a place, theme or person you would want new content to include?
A: I want to see what the other Charr homelands are like and to just have their Lore explored more, I feel like we have only been given a glimpse of what they are really all about.

Q: What do you speculate as the next possible race?
A: Everyone wants Tengu and so do I, but Arenanet really could do almost anything. Tho given how many things the Tengu have going for them I am hopeful they will be playable after HoT.

Q: How did you get started with the community, what inspired you to get involved?
A: I remember following Guildcast with BogOtter and company and loving it as a great place to get news and views of the game. When it sadly ended I had come across Aurora Peachy and sent an email via youtube asking if she might want to make our own lil gw2 cast and she actually wrote back and was up for it. GG has been my major experience of interacting with a game community and it has been pretty great!

Q: Why do you think GW2 has such a great community around it?
A: I truly do believe the no sub has been a big part and also the "no tab targeting" not sure if that is the right term, but being able to run up to random groups, help with killing mobs and being able to get loot and expansion by doing so went a LONG way from hating to see other players to loving to see them. It has taken WOW ten years to finally implement a weaker version of this which boggles my mind.

Q: What changes (if at all) have you seen in the community since you started playing GW2?
A: The community feels like it has grown substantially from gw2 launch and especially so once the expansion pack was announced. The shared anticipation and excitement is very infectious and feels quite unique amongst the mmo landscape.

Q: Why did you choose your particular format  [Youtube/Twitch/Blogs ect]?
A: I love how readily and easily the youtube is able to connect people. A lot of things I am into could use it as a fantastic medium just to get it out here.

Q: How much does the audience and community influence your production/creations?
A: I am taking a break from making vids as I want the right software/accessories to do it properly and to the quality I want. But when I went back I tend to just make what I want.

Q: Do you have any advice for people wanting to follow in your footsteps?
A: I do not consider my footsteps very big, but I could give advice I would say to just DO IT, if you have an opinion throw it out there.

Q: Do you play anything else which you make content for?
A: WOW and once Wildstar goes free to play maybe that too.

Q: What type of games do you play for your own enjoyment?
A: Outside of MMORPGs I really like platformers, two of my favs are Ori and the Blind Forest and Oddworld New and Tasty. I also CRAVE the new Killer Instinct and hope to get one of them there XBox Ones someday.....

Q: Apart from the immediate cast group, who else would you recommend?
A: I have always enjoyed the antics of Wooden Potatoes and  Matt Visual and Bog Otter. Butt here really are so many to list and I still feel very new to everything.

Q: Who is your favourite youtuber/streamer [non gw2]?
A: Glove and Boots and the Nostalgia Critic.

GW2 Community Creators Spotlight - AuroraPeachy

Q: What do you do in the Guild Wars community and where can everyone find you?
A: Hi! I’m AuroraPeachy. I make reaction and review videos of Guild Wars 2, focusing on lore and the PvE experience. You can find those on YouTube at http://youtube.com/aurorapeachy, I also host GW2 related streams 3 times a week over at http://twitch.tv/aurora_peachy.

Q: Did you hear of/play GW1 and what was your experiences/ you're impressions? What is your earliest memory if so?
A: I started playing GW1 around the time Nightfall was released, though I had actually played the Factions beta weekend before I even knew what the game was. I fell in love with it once I got my own copy, and the rest is history.

Q: Did you/are you playing other MMO's? What attracted you to them?
A: GW1 was my first MMO, and the GW universe has always been my favorite. I’ve dabbled in others such as Wildstar and the little known Dream of Mirror Online and Grand Fantasia by Aeria Games, but nothing beats Guild Wars. I play MMOs very casually, mostly by myself, which I knows goes against everything they try to accomplish, but it works for me.

Q: When did you start playing GW2 and what got you involved in the game itself?
A: I started playing during one of the beta weekends, and haven’t stopped since. I love Guild Wars 1 so much, GW2 was a given.

Q: What have you enjoyed about GW2 and what has kept you playing?
A: Absolutely everything about the game keeps me playing, from the mechanics and lore in the game, to the friends I’ve made and the creative outlet it gives me.

Q: What has been your favourite memory of GW2?
A: I can’t get over my very first week in the game when I randomly came across the Shadow Behemoth in Queensdale. Since the game was so new, this open world boss most take for granted nowadays just knocked the socks off of everyone there. I have screenshots of everyone losing their minds in map chat, shouting “today is a good day to die!” and “tonight we dine in HELL!” Everyone was so genuinely excited.

Q: What class do you main/ What is your least liked class and why?
A: I main Guardian and have since launch, though Ranger is a close second purely for its fun factor (longbow ftw!). I actually have 3 rangers and only 1 guardian. My least favorite class is probably warrior. They’re just boring to me. I couldn’t play one in GW1 either.

Q: What is your preferred game mode/Have you been drawn to any other modes?
A: I dabble in all three game modes, though over 90% of my playtime is in PvE. I live for the game’s story! I’ve found myself drawn to PvP lately, which still shocks me. I never in a million years thought I would enjoy PvP. But there’s something about Guild Wars that makes every game mode fun for everyone! I’ve even gotten others into it who thought they would never play!

Q: What is your opinion on the lore of the game?
A: It’s what I live for! I’m no WoodenPotatoes, but I try my best to keep up with it and theorize on what’s to come. The theories the community comes up with is one of my favorite parts about it! And ArenaNet loves to keep so much of it a secret that it’s very easy to do so.

Q: How do you feel about the upcoming expansion HoT?
A: Looking very forward to it! With all the talk of features I keep forgetting we’re going to be getting an amazing story that takes us into the jungle and uncovers all kinds of secrets. I can’t wait!
Is there a place, theme or person you would want new content to include?
Nostalgia is huge for me, so I hope we get to see a lot of references to GW1 lore!

Q: What do you speculate as the next possible race?
A: If I had to pick one I hope we get Tengu (Canthan expansion please! *hides from Colin*)

Q: How did you get started with the community, what inspired you to get involved?
A: Watching YouTubers like WoodenPotatoes, BogOtter and MattVisual really inspired me to start making my own videos and sharing my GW2 experiences.

Q: Why do you think GW2 has such a great community around it?
A: The way the game is designed (shared mining nodes, no competing for loot drops, world bosses, etc) creates a friendly atmosphere. You’re always happy to see another player!

Q: Why did you choose YouTube/Twitch?
A: I’ve always enjoyed videography, editing and media creation, so YouTube is a blessing for me. I never thought I would enjoy streaming live on Twitch as much as I do. It’s an amazing experience, and I’m so grateful for the community it’s created!

Q: How much does the audience and community influence your production/creations?
A: They definitely make me try to be on time with my videos! Knowing there’s people out there actually looking forward to the content I create is an incredible feeling, and I do my best to release it in a timely manner (which doesn’t always work out because I’m inherently lazy, lol).

Q: Do you have any advice for people wanting to follow in your footsteps?
A: Above all else, you must create content because YOU enjoy and have fun creating it. Don’t make it for views. Don’t make it for e-fame. Don’t make it because someone else wants you to. Make it for YOU. Be yourself, and don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t.

Do you play anything else which you make content for?
A: I play a variety of games casually, but my other major focus is the anime Sailor Moon. It’s been a huge part of my life for over 18 years. It’s where the majority of my subscriber numbers come from, and they can get quite unhappy when I release too many Guild Wars 2 videos in a row, haha. BUT I’ve turned a lot of Moonies on to Guild Wars 2 and they love it! (I even have a character in game that looks like Sailor Moon!)

Q: What type of games do you play for your own enjoyment?
A: Other genres I enjoy are MMO, puzzle, RTS, simulation, and RPGs.

Q: Apart from the immediate cast group, who else would you recommend?
A: There are dozens of absolutely fantastic GW2 YouTubers out there, but my favorites are WoodenPotatoes (http://youtube.com/woodenpotatoes) and my good friend Richie “BogOtter” Procopio (http://youtube.com/bogotter). They’re the ones who really inspired me to start making my own GW2 videos.

Q: Who is your favourite youtuber/streamer [non gw2]?
A: I love watching Boogie2988 on YouTube (http://youtube.com/boogie2988). He’s as informative and hilarious as he is a genuinely good person and it shows. I strive to entertain and spread love and happiness just like he does.

Q: If you could ask Inks/Alex/Corvus/Akasaurus Rex/Modremoth a question what would it be?
A: I would ask Corvus if he has any legendary weapons Kappa

GW2 Community Creators Spotlight - Alex from the RPG Shack

Q: Let's start off with a shameless plug. What do you do in the Guild Wars community and where can everyone find you?
A: Hi! My name's Alex and I run a YouTube channel called The RPG Shack at www.youtube.com/theonlyrpgshack that focuses mainly on the PvE and lore aspects of Guild Wars 2. I also do a whole bunch of other RPG stuff so if you like Fallout, Icewind Dale, etc there's plenty for you! I also Twitter and Facebook!

Q: Did you hear of/play GW1 and what was your experiences/ you're impressions?
A: I played Guild Wars 1 for about 4 years from 2006. I played all classes, some better than others and finished all the campaigns aside from Nightfall. I really enjoyed the time I had in the game, especially all the fantastic new things Eye Of The North brought in. My first impression was that it felt more PvP centric which actually isn't too far from the truth when you look at the development history, but as I got more involved in the lore I came to embrace it.

Q: What is your earliest memory if so?
A: My first character was a Necro/Monk in Factions. I remember having massive internet connection issues at the time so I ended up doing Sunqua Vale about a dozen times! I remember thinking it was a bit pants that each map was instanced instead of being more open world like the sequel is.

Q: Did you/are you playing other MMO's? What attracted you to them?
A: Community and lore usually attract me to MMOs, but occasionally I do get caught up in the hype machine - Wildstar was a perfect example of this. Things like a developer's history make me keep an eye on things. I have active accounts on Elder Scrolls Online, Lord Of The Rings Online, Archeage, Aion, SWTOR and I have about a dozen starter accounts on WoW - I played that for a while back in 2009 because I'd run out of other things to waste my money on. Good balancing and structure will keep me in an MMO, as well as grind that feels achievable. LOTRO got very samey after a while which is a bit of a shame.

I also point blank refuse to pay a sub fee for a game. I bought it already!

Q: When did you start playing GW2 and what got you involved in the game itself?
A: I started playing Guild Wars 2 probably in the March or April it released as part of the closed beta program. I wasn't YouTubing or part of the community at that point, just a big fan of Arenanet's. The ties I had in the previous game, my old guild, was certainly a big factor in getting involved as well as the fact that GW1 had got very quiet over the last few years. It was a chance to dive into Tyria all over again!

Q: What have you enjoyed about GW2 and what has kept you playing?
A: Oh God, where to start!? The combat is hands down the best in any MMO to date; it's reactive, involving and you are punished in high end content for afk-autoattacking. I love the underwater aspect, which is an unpopular opinion but I think that if the game hadn't had the emphasis on underwater combat during development we wouldn't have seen these massive underwater areas in maps like Frostgorge Sound.

But this game still has the ability to steal entire weekends from me after nearly 3 years and what is considerably little in new permanent content. I just love running round, seeing sights, jumping puzzles, dungeons, quaggan parades and having fun in game!

I actually nearly quit the game in late 2012. The guild I was in at the time was very low key and wasn't interested in doing higher level stuff. I'd got to 80 and I was like "So, what now?" I logged on to a looking for guild website and found this guild called Thorin & Company, a place for all players to join in and be part of a community. I joined in January or February 2013 as a lowly member and I've been leader for just over 7 months now. Community is a massive part of this game and without the friends I've made I doubt I'd still be playing.

Q: What has been your favourite memory of GW2?
A: Crikey, that's a tough one! Too many to mention really, the first time I saw Tequatl in Sparkfly Fen, the first time I completed Obsidian Sanctum, the Marionette, Battle for Lion's Arch, of course Super Adventure Box! But my favourite memory of Guild Wars 2 comes from the second or third day after launch. I was in Queensdale with a crowd defending this farmer's field which was awesome enough, and I went wandering across the map towards this lake. I saw a giant Oakheart, back by the shimmering lake and the sun and that was the first time the game felt truly special to me.

Q: What class do you main/ What is your least liked class and why?
A: I main Ranger! I usually run a spotter build for the extra crit and damage. My least favourite class is probably thief, but that's because in almost every RPG I've played I don't really run as a rogue. I'm not a big fan of playing a burst damage class either.

Q: What is your preferred game mode/Have you been drawn to any other modes?
A: I usually play endgame PvE. I'm not a speed runner or Fractal level 50er but I like a challenge. You can find me in Tequatl, running dungeons or fractals or just messing around in the world.

I dabble VERY occasionally in WvW, a bit more in Edge of the Mists and get a ticket on the karma train. It's a great map in there, and super excited for the new WvW map coming soon. I've gotten a bit more into PvP especially since I levelled my Necromancer and Engineer, and from the beta I played the other week I have a feeling stronghold is going to take up a lot of my time.

Q: What is your opinion on the lore of the game?
A: My opinion on the lore has warmed greatly in the last year or so. Partly due to the fact that Season 2 of the Living World did such a great job on expanding what we know about Tyria, but also because there's a lot more Guild Wars 1 lore coming in - with potentially the Mursaat making an appearance in Heart Of Thorns as well as possibly the Bloodstone hidden in the jungle. The 'vanilla' Guild Wars 2 lore was still very impressive but it lacked a bit of an edge for me initially.

Q: How do you feel about the upcoming expansion HoT?
A: I am so psyched for it. There's so many things I'm ecstatic about in the expansion, we could probably just do an interview on that alone!

Q: Is there a place, theme or person you would want new content to include?
A: I would love to go back to Elona. Nightfall/Guild Wars Beyond left a few cliff hangers here and there, I would love to see Palawa Joko's army of the undead make an appearance in the future.

Q: What do you speculate as the next possible race?
A: I seem to be in the minority here, I'm not actually too bothered about playable races, especially tengu. Who wants to be a giant bird? The two that do interest me are the ones that we have relatively little info on, the kodan and the largos.

Q: How did you get started with the community, what inspired you to get involved?
A: I did a couple of Guild Wars 2 videos for a friend's channel back in 2012 and it sort of went from there. A couple of aborted channels later and here I am! This is probably going to sound a bit arrogant but there were a ton of Guild Wars 2 videos that bored the shit out of me, the commentators just weren't interesting to listen to, regardless of how good their points or production skills were. So, eventually I said "I can do better than that!" and gave it a shot. Looking back, some of my earlier videos are pretty shoddy! But eventually I heard about this Guild Gab show and sent Peachy a cheeky email going "Hey! You should have me!" and one thing led to another and now for some reason people seem to respect my opinion!

I recently got into Twitch-streaming, which is really fun to just mess about. Without sounding like an arrogant tool I'm funnier live and have people to work off rather than solo-recording which is why the channel is a bit more info/game commentary based rather than deliberate entertainment.

Q: Why do you think GW2 has such a great community around it?
A: I think the casual nature of the game has a large part to do with it. You can drop in and out as you please over whatever period of time and the only difference between you and a guy who's been playing since launch is ~5% difference in stats and a slightly shinier sword. That's FANTASTIC. On top of that, sharing kill xp, your own loot and no more node ninja thefts mean people aren't in competition with each other over resources, loot and xp. The casual group event system is genius, the ability for anyone to ress and heal is long overdue in an MMO and for whatever reason people just seem to be friendlier in Guild Wars 2. Of course, you're always going to get the asshats regardless what game you play. But the phenomenal thing is that this already friendly community is nurtured constantly by Arenanet to be in direct communication with them. You find devs/employees in game, in Twitch chat - Rubi Bayer dropped into my stream the other week and we had so much fun! They're an awesome bunch of people and welcome everyone with a positive attitude.

Q: Could Arenanet do more to curate and develop its community?
A: There was a bit of a community backlash in 2014, partly due to the fact that there was very little to do in game between Season 1 and 2, but also due to the fact that community increasingly felt that they weren't being listened to. Arenanet recognised this and Chris Whiteside reopened the CDI forum, bringing the community into the fold when discussing potential upcoming game mechanics which was a MASSIVE boost to the community to be a part of shaping a game that we've lived in since 2012. The only other slight thing I would comment on is that for whatever reason fansites don't seem to get as much love as YouTubers or Twitchers. Whether this is due to a shift in traffic over to a more audiovisual medium I couldn't say, but from community discussions I've had I think they're a seriously undervalued resource.

Q: What changes (if at all) have you seen in the community since you started playing GW2?
A: The community has always been fantastic. The team at Arenanet are brilliant, and one of the big things that we've seen in the last year is the increase in which the Arenanet team communicate with their fans. Things like Foostival had it's first UK festival with members of the European NCSoft family attending which for a fan driven event is brilliant. The people who create content aren't seen as people perching in lofty ivory towers and for good reason, there's very little of this holier-than-thou bullshit that plagues other games and the people that do have that tend not to last very long.

GW2 Reddit can still bite me, however.

Q: Why did you choose that particular format  [youtube/twitch/blogs ect]
A: YouTube I find very easy to do in my own time. Because I'm UK based I don't exactly have the best saturation period for the US market. And, with living with my girlfriend and having a full time job with a cancer charity, getting a streaming schedule in place has been pretty tricky - in three years I've still only managed to get about 2 hours of streaming a week for definite! I quite like the idea of bite-sized content too, I don't have the attention span to watch a 3 hour stream!

Q: How much does the audience and community influence your production/creations?
A: For Q&A videos, the questions mostly come from the audience. Occasionally someone will say "Hey, can you do a video on X?" and I'll think "That's a great idea!" and do it. But by and large if I get an idea in my head about what I want to do I just go for it and damn the consequences. I tend to get pretty good constructive criticism from my followers, even if it's usually just telling me to stop buggering up the audio!

Q: Do you have any advice for people wanting to follow in your footsteps?
A: Don't do Minecraft or Call of Duty. Seriously, it's bullshit and you suck at it. I don't want to see a guy get a MOAB or smack a tree for wooden blocks. A friend said this to me about my channel - "Have a USP; Unique Selling Point". Don't carbon copy what's already out there. One of the guys I do Guild Gab with, Inks, we both cover fairly similar ground but I think he'd agree that our approach to how we cover the things we do is markedly different from each other enough to justify us both existing. Find a game or topic you're passionate about and combine it with skills you already have, whether it's production values or creating machinima. And mostly importantly - be a personality. I have friends who can tell when I'm recording because I have my YouTube voice - and that's true to a certain extent, you create an online persona, even if it's not that different from the real you but it's the personality aspect that draws people to your channel, not the fact you've killed 45,000 zombies with dual FMGs are whatever kids do these days.

Q: Do you play anything else which you make content for?
A: You bet! At the moment I'm working on my Pillars of Eternity playthrough, trying to get Wasteland 2 up and running and looking at starting a few other mini-series with a bit more a news/info slant on it in the near future. At the moment I'm currently doing a Black Mesa/Half Life stream on Twitch and pick it up every week, Gordon Freeman is now French and the crowbar has been renamed 'la baguette'.

Q: What type of games do you play for your own enjoyment?
A: I'm very much an RPG kinda guy. I'm making my way through Witcher 3 at the moment and drop back into Skyrim all the time as well as Dragon Age: Inquistion. You'll notice all three of these are open world! I'm not disciplined enough to make videos on open world games, I love to wander and get lost, and having to record it shatters the immersion for me. That and Witcher 3 keeps crashing all the time.

Aside from that, I roll a bit of Heroes Of The Storm as well as a few point and click adventures like Grim Fandango and Dreamfall. I'm a big fan of the new Wolfenstein games too, can't beat a bit of indiscriminate Nazi slaughter.

Q: Apart from the immediate cast group, who else would you recommend?
Wooden Potatoes for sure, this guy knows the lore of this game backwards. Also, another Brit who makes pretty funny and interesting stuff is Mighty Teapot.

Q: Who is your favourite youtuber/streamer [non gw2]?
A: Weirdly, and to my everlasting shame, I barely watch YouTube videos - I just don't have the time. However, I love creative people on YouTube - ERock is amazing, and the comedy duo Fratocrats still make me laugh on the hundreth repeat of their videos.

Q: If you could ask Peachy/Inks/Alex/Corvus/Akasaurus Rex/Modremoth a question what would it be?
A: When do we meet up and party!?

GW2 Community Creators Spotlight - Corvus

Q: What do you do in the Guild Wars community and where can everyone find you?
A: Hey! I’m Corvus and I make crappy music inspired by the Guild Wars 2 universe over on my channel - http://youtube.com/Corvus. I’m also lucky enough to appear in Aurora Peachy’s weekly podcast GuildGab, so you should check out our streams and uploads over on her Youtube and Twitch channels: http://youtube.com/AuroraPeachy

Q: Did you hear of/play GW1 and what was your experiences/ your impressions? What is your earliest memory if so?
A: I’d heard of GW back in the day, around release. A lot of my friends were getting into WoW and such, but I was never able to afford a subscription fee. Unfortunately, I was unable to play any kind of PC games because I didn't have anything even close to a PC that could run games, haha. It wasn't until the run up to the launch of GW2 that I actually had a PC worth having, and so I jumped in not long after that, and I've never looked back since!

Q: Did you/are you playing other MMO's? What attracted you to them?
A: The idea of an MMO gripped me from the start. I play games for the story and immersion, primarily, and so the idea that I could step into a world and get swept away has been such an incredible concept ever since I first heard of the genre. I don’t play any other MMOs, though, despite my love for the genre - I get everything I need from GW and GW2 and I’m far too invested in the universe to step into any other worlds at this point.

Q: When did you start playing GW2 and what got you involved in the game itself?
A:It was a friend that suggested I jumped into GW2, back at the launch of the game, as he was interested as well. I jumped in and it’s just been my main game ever since!

Q: What have you enjoyed about GW2 and what has kept you playing?
A: There’s so much that has kept me hooked - being such a lover of stories, the PvE aspect has been my main focus, but I've grown to love and appreciate everything in the game. There’s always something to do. I love how GW2 is a game where the end goals are set and decided on by you, the player.

Q: What has been your favourite memory of GW2?
A: As for my favourite memory, there’s so much I could say here too! From spending hours fighting through the final personal story step for the first time, to crafting my first legendary. In all honesty, though, it has to be the community. The people I've met, the things I've been involved with and the close friends, or more, that I’ve made has been incredible and I could never forget them. It’s in this regard that GW2 has truly changed my life forever.

Q: What class do you main/ What is your least liked class and why?
A: I main a necromancer! I actually played through the game with my warrior at first - right until the end of the personal story. Once I’d finished, I straight away made my necro and it changed the game for me, completely. I just love the mechanics, the flavour of the class and how involving I found the game-play. After that, it’d be the Elementalist - for the same reasons.

As for my least favourite, though, I’d have to choose Engineer. I tend to go for more magic based classes in games, rather than the technological ones. Definitely still appreciate it, though.

Q: What is your preferred game mode/Have you been drawn to any other modes?
A: As I said earlier, PvE is my main focus - the story beyond that - but I regularly jump into PvP to battle it out with other players.

Q: What is your opinion on the lore of the game?
A: Being the aforementioned story dude, the lore of the game is probably the largest aspects of my love for it. Had the GW universe been entirely expressed through books, my love would have still been birthed. The storytelling differences between GW1 and GW2 are definitely notable, but the world is just so well crafted and detailed, I love every single story that takes place inside of it, no matter how it’s told.

Q: How do you feel about the upcoming expansion HoT?
A: HYPE! Supreme, immeasurable amounts of hype. I'm looking forward to seeing where the plot takes our band of heroes, along with the incredible sounding features - Guild Halls, anyone?!

Q: Is there a place, theme or person you would want new content to include?
A: As many places as possible! I crave that feeling of exploration that we all had back at the start, and the more places to explore, the more we’ll feel that again. In terms of themes, I’d love for there to be darker themes that play on questioning what is right. Kill the dragons and go against natural order, or try to defeat them to save ourselves, potentially acting selfishly in the face of nature? As for key characters, any and all references to old lore, Glint, the Gods, the Mursaat. Anyone and everyone!

Q: What do you speculate as the next possible race?
A: I think there are a few strong candidates - Tengu, of course, are likely at some point. I think whatever race we see introduced will be seen coming for miles - as there’d likely be implications throughout the story. The Tengu being attacked and having to rally to war with us, for instance.

Q: How did you get started with the community, what inspired you to get involved?
A: I've been making music since I was super young, it’s really the only thing I'm not awful at, and it’s how I express myself, in all honesty. I’d been wanting to do YouTube stuff properly for a while as well, and I enjoy sharing my music and feels with other people. The first thing that properly kicked it off, though, was having nobody to really talk about the game with. It inspired me to contact Aurora, back when GuildGab was still young, to see if I could get involved. To my surprise, she actually wanted me there and it threw me into this incredible network of people and friends that fuelled my inspiration and drive to produce content.

Q: Why do you think GW2 has such a great community around it?
A: This is actually a really tough question! It’s hard to pinpoint what exactly makes it so friendly, compared with other games. I do think a lot of the credit has to go to ArenaNet for being the type of developer they are - open, warm, inviting and supportive of their fans - that’s mirrored by the fans back to them, creating this amazing community between both parties, who have a love for the game in common.

Q: Could Arenanet do more to curate and develop its community?
A: Again, another tough one! The fact that ArenaNet support content creators so well, without controlling the content they produce is amazing and helps the audience, the creators and the company without there being any shady business whatsoever. Highlighting community events, creations and being so welcoming to everyone involved, no matter who they are is another thing you rarely see from companies of their size. I can’t think of anything that really needs changing. The game sells itself, the content creators help promote and the friendliness of the community welcomes in new people with open arms. I think all that’s needed to develop the community further is just time - more people, more content, more love and happiness for everyone.

Q: What changes (if at all) have you seen in the community since you started playing GW2?
A: Nothing that I can really remark on. I think the biggest step that’s been taken was just everyone getting used to the system of the Living Story and being won over by it. This, combined with the occasional expansion release, was just something people had to get their heads around. I think the community has remained fairly similar to that at launch, although obviously growing exponentially.

Q: Why did you choose that particular format  [Youtube/Twitch/blogs ect] ?
A: I do videos because it’s easy to share content and to network, while also letting me add more of a cinematic vibe to my videos! I just like the whole process of making videos - from composing the music, to editing. It’s great fun. I do also use SoundCloud, but mainly as a host for my music to allow for downloads.

Q: How much does the audience and community influence your production/creations?
A: Not so much, actually. Of course, I want everyone to be happy with whatever I produce, but at the same time, I write whatever music I feel like, haha. I even did a crappy dubstep remix of the HoT announcement. It’s a balance of being free to make what I want and making sure that it’s content people will actually want to consume.

Q: Do you have any advice for people wanting to follow in your footsteps?
A: Don’t! I’m a bad human who can’t do things gud. But really, the only advice I can give is this: Do what makes you happy. If you want to start a channel, GO! If you want to make music, DO IT! Art and creativity is the fuel of everybody’s life, whether you create it or just consume it and there’s nothing more important in life than just doing what makes you happy.

Q: Do you play anything else which you make content for?
A: Nope! I have a massive love for Zelda, though, so who knows - I might bring out some Zelda lore based music at some point! I have a lot of plans for more GW2 content that varies in style, so I’m already pretty busy planning out my schedule!

Q: What type of games do you play for your own enjoyment?
A: RPGs have always been a love of mine - I absolutely adore them. Pokémon, Zelda - as I said - and GW kinda take up the most of my time though. I have a soft spot for horror games (the classics; Silent Hill 2, YUS), old school plat-formers and Crash/Spyro style games too.

Q: Apart from the immediate cast group, who else would you recommend?
A: Wow, everyone! There are too many people to name; Eexa is amazing, and there’s Deroir, Sammpo, DeanyKong, World of Enders/Boottspurr, Killchain, Levi, Wubdor, Monkeyherb, Tough Love Critic, That_shaman, MightyTeapot, JD Shadow, TapDatMouse, the guys over at GuildMag and DragonSeason as well as those amazing screenshot people over on Instagram: Necro_Phoea, TairaPlays and m5kit. Of course you as well - what you’re doing is awesome; bringing these people together and helping promote the wonderful members of this community. But yeah, I just wanted to list everyone, haha, they’re all amazing - I'm truly sorry if I've missed anybody!

Q: Who is your favourite Youtuber/streamer [non gw2]?
A: Non GW2? Wow, that’s a hard one. A really really hard one. I don’t even think I can answer, haha.

Q: If you could ask Peachy/Inks/Alex/Corvus/Akasaurus Rex/Modremoth a question what would it be?
A: I don’t really have anything to ask them. I’d just like to thank them all for being the best, and I hope they realize how happy they make me.
